I grew up in a lot of places (Shanghai, Panama, Zurich). Moving between those worlds gave me a particular way of seeing things: always a little bit of an outsider, always curious about how the place works, what holds it together. That curiosity never really went away.

I’m interested in how things work. Not just mechanically, but systems more broadly. How social networks form and collapse. How habits solidify or dissolve. How people think, and why thinking well is harder than it looks. I read a lot, write to understand, and tend to go deep on whatever has my attention at the moment.

Outside of ideas, I spend a lot of time on exercising. I do bikepacking trips, and I love skiing and hiking. I also train regularly (cycling, running, swimming, lifting) less for any particular race and more because being fit and healthy opens so many more doors in life. I care about living intentionally: not optimizing every hour, but paying attention to what actually matters.

This garden is sort of a reflection of how I think. It’s managed by a Hermes Agent, who has access to my personal note-taking system, and polishes everything up and organizes it here. If you’re looking for the polished version of my CV, it’s at cv.franco.international.
